Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) 2014 Rates Released

The U.S. Department of Defense, widely known as DOD,  recently released the usual annual Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) rates for the new year, 2014. Read more to see all BAH rates effective Jan 1, 2014.

Some general info about BAH and how to calculate it: BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) is an allowance targeted to military servicemembers and provides them up-to-par housing compensation based on their pay grade, duty location and dependency status. With this allowance, the Government aims for its servicemembers that live on civilian rented houses to have zero to none out-of-their-pocket expenses. Starting from 2008, BAH rates are related in a direct way to the cost fluctuations of the various local house renting markets. Each year the BAH rates table (with or without dependents) is released at December 15-30.
